China: (Right Now News) Scientists in China have successfully transplanted a pig’s liver and kidneys into a human for the first time. This experiment was conducted on a brain-dead individual.

Experts at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University carried out the procedure. The patient received two kidneys and one liver transplant. No adverse reactions were observed for five days.

Researchers reported that the liver began producing bile while the kidneys produced urine and maintained stable blood flow. This clinical trial aimed to test the functionality of genetically edited pig organs in the human body.

Experts made six genetic modifications to the pig organs and added three human genes while removing three genes that affected the human immune system. This experiment could be a significant advancement for future animal-to-human organ transplants.

It is noteworthy that previous attempts to transplant pig hearts into humans were made, with patients eventually passing away. In 2022, a 57-year-old patient received a pig heart, which was initially successful, but the patient later died.
