Gilgit-Baltistan: (Right Now News) Voting for the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan will take place today. A total of 958,480 voters will exercise their right to vote across 24 constituencies. Polling will continue from 8 AM to 5 PM, with all polling staff and materials already delivered to the stations.

The Election Commission has established 1,391 polling stations across all districts of Gilgit-Baltistan. Out of these, 349 are marked as sensitive and 551 as highly sensitive. Security arrangements have been made foolproof.

A total of 403 candidates are contesting in the elections, including 396 men and 8 women. The People’s Party has 23 candidates, the PML-N has 22, and the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party has 15 candidates in the race.

Local police, GB Scouts, and Punjab Police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order. Law enforcement agencies have conducted flag marches in electoral constituencies. A tough competition is expected in various constituencies.

It is noteworthy that the previous elections also saw fierce competition for the 24 seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. The development budget for the upcoming fiscal year is expected to exceed 39 billion rupees.
