Islamabad: (Right Now News) The IMF program has impacted the national development budget. A significant reduction in fund utilization has been revealed.

Due to strict IMF conditions, the effects on the development budget are evident. Out of 1 trillion rupees, only 528 billion rupees have been utilized.

Under the Public Sector Development Program, 1 trillion rupees were allocated. Ministries spent 528 billion rupees from July 2025 to May 2026.

Ahsan Iqbal stated that the investment-to-GDP ratio has decreased from 2.6% to 0.6%. Ten trillion rupees are needed to complete projects.

It is noteworthy that since the fiscal year 2018, resources for development projects have been consistently decreasing. However, provincial development budgets have increased.
