New York: (Right Now News) Renowned American news network CNN has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the popular AI company Perplexity. CNN claims that Perplexity is illegally copying its content and distributing it to users.

CNN filed the lawsuit in a New York court, alleging that Perplexity scraped their journalistic content without permission and used it on its platform. The lawsuit accuses the company of using over 17,000 CNN stories, images, and videos.

This lawsuit is part of a series of legal actions initiated by major publishing houses against generative AI startups. Media organizations argue that they should receive appropriate compensation for the use of their content.

CNN’s spokesperson stated that this lawsuit represents the principle that large companies cannot exploit original content without compensation. They emphasized the necessity of paying for the commercial use of journalistic material.

It is noteworthy that The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and other major media organizations have also taken legal action against Perplexity. CNN has requested the court to order Perplexity to pay damages and cease using their content.
