Islamabad: (Right Now News). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that tax money is a national trust and its protection is our duty. He emphasized accountability for every penny.

A weekly review meeting on FBR matters was chaired by the Prime Minister. The committee’s report on over-invoicing was presented during the meeting.

Shehbaz Sharif mentioned that the over-invoicing malpractice continued from 2017 to 2022, with relevant institutions neglecting their duties. He instructed to expedite legal action against those involved.

The Prime Minister stressed the need for a comprehensive strategy to prevent such incidents in the future. He directed to activate the Financial Monitoring Unit (FMU).

It is noteworthy that FBR identified the over-invoicing issue in October 2022. During this period, 13 FIRs have been filed and legal proceedings are ongoing.
