The government has launched a new system to provide subsidized petrol via a mobile app.
Islamabad: (Right Now News) The government has introduced a new system to provide subsidized petrol to low-income individuals amid the energy crisis. This system will offer subsidies through a mobile app.
The Ministry of IT has invited expressions of interest for purchasing 24,000 mobile phones. These phones will be distributed to petrol pumps nationwide to operate the subsidy system digitally.
The National IT Board will determine the phone prices, while oil marketing companies will purchase and distribute them to petrol pumps. Under the plan, a total of 24,000 mobile phones will be provided to 12,000 petrol pumps.
The government will designate two nozzles at each petrol pump for subsidized petrol. The mobile app developed by the Ministry of IT is in its final stages, with testing underway.
It should be noted that initially, there is a proposal to provide motorcyclists with up to 20 liters of subsidized petrol monthly, while a final decision for vehicles up to 800cc is pending. The government has also started monitoring petrol pumps.
