Islamabad: (Right Now News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced in a national address that the proposal to increase petroleum product prices has been rejected. He stated that the suggested increase of 95 rupees per liter for petrol and 203 rupees for diesel has been dismissed, with the federal government bearing the cost. This measure amounts to 56 billion rupees.

The Prime Minister mentioned that although global oil prices have risen, the government is striving to shield the public from this burden. He added that Pakistan is actively engaged in promoting global peace and is making diplomatic efforts for mediation.

He further stated that he has had detailed discussions with the leaders of Iran and Gulf countries, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is actively involved in these efforts. Field Marshal Asim Munir is also playing a key role in this reconciliation process.

The Prime Minister highlighted that despite the global economic crisis, Pakistan has cut 100 billion rupees from the development projects budget to alleviate public difficulties. He mentioned that the government has provided resources for the public through a campaign of simplicity and austerity.

It is noteworthy that the global petrol price is 544 rupees per liter, while in Pakistan it is available at 322 rupees. Similarly, the global diesel price is 790 rupees per liter, but in Pakistan, it is provided at 335 rupees per liter.
